Job Title: Forensic Intake Specialist
Summary: Forensic Intake Specialist will be responsible for the screening of offenders incarcerated at the Galveston County Detention Center in Galveston. This will include offenders that are on a wait list. Other responsibilities will include the completion of the required screening form and the Justice of the Peace notification form.
Supervision: Receives supervision from the Forensic Program Manager
Education: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences or Criminal Justice
Abilities:
General knowledge of mental health disorders
Self-motivated with good time management skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to establish a cooperative relationship with security/medical staff
PC skills
Status: Non-exempt under Fair Labor Standards Act
Working Conditions: Brazoria County Detention Center, 4 hours per assigned nights or 8 hours on Saturday and Sunday
Job Duties Performance Standards
Screening Offenders A Mental Health Screening will be completed on offenders that have been identified as having mental health symptoms
Forms Completion A Justice of the Peace Referral will be completed on all offenders identified as having possible mental health issues
Scheduling Inmates identified as having mental health issues will be scheduled with the psychiatrist
Training On-site training will be conducted by the Program Manager. All Gulf Coast Center mandatory training will be kept up to date.
